Why every child should take gymnastics classes

by Samantha Aguirre

Develops Coordination

Gymnastics involves most muscles and joints in your body. For example, when a child does a cartwheel, they use their biceps, triceps, deltoids, core, quadriceps, hamstrings, and overall flexibility. It is a full-body sport, and doing skills repetitively allows gymnasts to gain muscle memory, and therefore, coordination.

This coordination can be used in all paths of their life, whether it's another sport or just daily life. These fundamental skills and gross motor skills that children use in gymnastics can be used in basketball, football, soccer, swimming etc.

Increases Flexibility

You may have watched Simone Biles on television during the Olympics and thought, "WOW! She’s so strong!” But it’s not just strength that allows Simone to stick her floor routines. Flexibility goes hand-in-hand with strength in gymnastics.

Flexibility decreases the likelihood of injury, which is why it's important that we stretch at the beginning of each class at Bay Aerials.

Teamwork! Makes the Dream Work

Children in classes at Bay Aerials will learn to work together, cheer each other on, and, probably make a few friends 🙂

Whether it’s pulling a mat together, cheering for another friend in class, or just standing next to each other in line… We encourage teamwork at Bay Aerials.

Gymnastics is also beneficial for their social interactions, and takes them out of their day-to-day routine in school. They get to express and involve themselves in different environments and different people.

It's FUN

Our instructors at Bay Aerials make learning and growing exciting for the children. We gently push and challenge the children, in a positive and uplifting manner. It’s FUN to flip, cartwheel, and jump!
